This lecture will consider the hazards presented by space-to-space vehicles, astronauts and to people on the Earth. In particular it will address the effects of solar radiation, meteoroids, asteroids and comets, as well as man-made debris. As an example there are over 3000 tonnes of man made debris in orbit about the Earth presenting a collision hazard to in-orbit satellites such as the International Space Station and an impact risk for people on Earth when it inevitably returns through the atmosphere.
